Il 20/06/2023 alle 10.30 presso l’aula 15 del Polo Scientifico di San Miniato, il Prof. Ian Thornhill dell’University of Manchester terrà un seminario dal titolo:
“Using ecoacoustics (soundscapes) for environmental monitoring”
Soundscapes comprise anthropophonic (human-originating), biophonic (flora or fauna-originating), and geophonic (physical events like flowing water) sounds. Improved technology has made it possible to use acoustics as indicators of environmental conditions. New research demonstrates their potential as a non-invasive and cost-effective approach to monitoring marine and freshwater environments, allowing also for the participation of the public (citizen science).
