New dyes for solar cells

Solar cells based on organic materials are the new frontier of light harvesting. We are developing an integrated approach to the synthesis of small libraries of new dyes, testing them on Gretzel's type cells to find new more robust and efficient materials for thirdgeneration of photovoltaic cells. The work is focused on development of new and more efficient linkage systems on the conductive substrates in order to improve harvesting efficiency, time-life and versatility of the cell. The work is done within the interdisciplinary project FOTOSENSORG.
