Synthesis of new ligands for the central benzodiazepine receptor (CBR) and for the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR – TSPO) and characterization of the molecular basis of CBR/PBR selectivity

The research activity is finalized to the study of the structural parameters responsible for the interaction of different series of ligands with central benzodiazepine receptor (CBR) and/or with peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR – TSPO). The most significant results obtained include the discovery of potent ligands showing high selectivity and different intrinsic efficacy and the definition of the structural determinants responsible for the interaction with CBR or with PBR – TSPO.
