21st International Conference on Retinal Proteins

It will be the first time that the ICRP is held in Italy since its first edition in 1984. While, I and the Co-Chair, Prof. Kwang-Hwan Jung (Songan University, Republic of Korea), are committed to create a unique scientific and cultural event, our success will also depend on the available financial resources.ICRP2026 focuses on the Photophysics, Photochemistry and Photobiology of the, arguably, more extended and diffuse biological photoreceptor family of our planet (more than 500,000 known members found in organisms belonging to all kingdoms of life) including visual and non-visual pigments in humans, ion-pumps, ion-channels and enzymes in algae, bacteria and Archaea. Recently, the conference has been extended to retinal protein enabled technologies that are advancing structural biology and imaging, synthetic chemistry and biology, and neuroscience with application in medical and environmental sciences.
